This is a Ford OEM transponder key blank for a 1996-2000 Ford Windstar. Both sides of key has the Ford logo as shown in the photo. This key is a transponder key blank, which means your vehicle must be configured to recognize the new key, and the key must be cut correctly before it will start your vehicle . To do the configuration yourself you must have two unique working transponder keys to do the OBP (On Board Programming). When I say the keys must be unique I mean one key can't be a clone of the other key. Your cars computer must see each key as two separate and unique keys. If you don't have two unique working keys, then you need somebody with a tool that plugs into your cars OBD2 port and allows them to configure your cars computer. Most automotive locksmiths and Ford dealership can do this for you.

Here are the OBP instructions:

Add Key (requires two working keys):
1. Put a current key into the ignition.
2. Turn the ignition to ON, then back to the
OFF position.
3. Remove the key and insert a second key. Turn
it ON and back to the OFF position. You MUST do
this within five seconds.
4. Before ten seconds have elapsed, put a new key
in and turn the ignition ON. After one second,
turn the key back to the OFF position.
5. The dashboard security light will glow for three
seconds. This confirms the programming of the
new key has been successful.
